The default CONNECTIVITY_CHECK_URIS uses "https://yoctoproject.org/connectivity.html"
which redirect to "https://www.yoctoproject.org/connectivity.html".
Some network configurations with proxies or restricted internet access
don't handle HTTP redirects properly during the sanity check phase,
causing build failures with:
ERROR: OE-core's config sanity checker detected a potential misconfiguration.
Either fix the cause of this error or at your own risk disable the checker (see sanity.conf).
Following is the list of potential problems / advisories:
Fetcher failure for URL: 'https://yoctoproject.org/connectivity.html'. URL doesn't work.
Updated the default URL to use the final destination directly to avoid
redirect-related connectivity check failures.
Also updated SDK test cases in https.py to use the corrected URL for
consistency.

There is no reason to set an empty default for it, while not doing it

example.com is proving unreliable at present so switch to our own connectivity
page instead. That page is very simple avoiding app overhead on our web server
which was an original reason for switching to example.com.

* the output is shown 3 times with default configuration and 5 times when --verbose
is being used with knotty, there might be other use-cases where we actually need
this, but until the logging is resolved better, setting this to empty looks like
more reasonable option (considering that e.g. log.do_compile from chromium-x11
can be over 50MB long, generating 150MB+ cooker log)

Obtaining debug information by having it served automatically via http
is far more pleasant than messing about with debugfs and gdbserver or
transferring and installing -dbg packages by hand.
I believe we should follow the desktop distros and have it enabled
out of the box. Please see the following commit for the description
of how it works.

This checks both that we have connectivity and HTTPS makes it through any
proxies.

There doesn't seem to be a clear reason to have two separate
variables to hold whitelisted GPLv3 recipes. Both variables are
treated the same, so adding a recipe to LGPLv2_WHITELIST_GPL-3.0 is
already equivalent to adding it to WHITELIST_GPL-3.0.
Anyone needing to whitelist a GPLv3 recipe should now just use
WHITELIST_GPL-3.0.

With the change from assuming kernels will be named "vmlinuz"
everywhere, to instead using KERNEL_IMAGETYPE, we require that
KERNEL_IMAGETYPE is set to something. Instead of setting the default in
multiple individual files, set it in default-distrovars.inc.
x86(-64) arches get bzImage as the default. Others get zImage as per
meta/conf/documentation.conf.
Also set KERNEL_IMAGETYPES, as we will eventually be switching away from
KERNEL_IMAGETYPE.

ACLs are pretty useful in the modern world, with security systems such as
SELinux and Smack that use them extensively. As the overhead is minimal, add
ACL to DEFAULT_DISTRO_FEATURES so that support for them is enabled by default.
The overhead for core-image-sato is that coreutils, libarchive, and opkg link
against libacl. The size increase of those packages is minimal, and libacl is
35kb.

base.bbclass sets 'check_license' to False (and therefore skips
license checking completely) for native, nativesdk, etc recipes
(ie anything which could potentially be classed as "host tools"),
so supporting a dedicated whitelist of GPLv3 host tools is not
necessary.

python hard-codes the encoding of many locales; for instance, en_US is
always assumed to be ISO-8859-1, regardless of the actual encoding of
the en_US locale on the system. cf

getdefaultlocale(), etc. This code appears to date back to python 2.0.
The source of this hard-coding is Xorg's locale.alias but is ultimately
justified by glibc's SUPPORTED.
This causes problems on OE, because any locale lacking an explicit
encoding suffix (e.g. en_US) is UTF-8. It has been this way from the
beginning (svn r1). That is not a bug, per se -- no specification
prohibits this AFAIK. But it seems to be at odds with virtually every
other glibc-based distribution in existence. To avoid needlessly
aggravating hidden bugs that nobody else might hit, it makes sense to
disable this behavior such that locales are named precisely as specified
by SUPPORTED.
I suppose that reasonable minds may disagree on whether or not the
current behavior is prudent; at the very least, this is likely to break
IMAGE_LINGUAS settings. So let's create a new distro variable
LOCALE_UTF8_IS_DEFAULT to allow either behavior. Set it to 0 and all
your locales get named exactly like they are in SUPPORTED. Leave it at 1
to preserve current OE locale naming conventions.

If you currently do a DISTRO_FEATURES_remove = "x11" with OE-Core, you
see failures due to dependency problems. The work in resolving this was
partially completed a while back. This adds in the markup mainly for
gtk/gtk3+ recipes and means "bitbake world" will work successfully.
Rather than code the gtk/gtk+ specific distro features into each recipe,
a shared variable is used.

An empty distro value leads to OVERRIDES and FILESOVERRIDES containing
"::" entries which causes odd issues such as files being included when
they shouldn't be. We could put in anonymous python to guard against
empty entries but its messy and setting a default value for DISTRO to
something harmless is much easier.
This patch adds a weak default and ensures the sanity test doesn't
complain about it.
DISTRO_VERSION and SDK_VERSION are also updated to match.

When making distributions based on the default distro-less config, it
is useful to be able to reuse the default DISTRO_FEATURES options
without the need of duplication. The new variable,
DISTRO_FEATURES_DEFAULT, allow this reuse and customization.
So distros can include 'default-distrovars.inc' and use:

The Linux NFC project aims to provide a full NFC support for Linux.
It is based on the neard NFC user space stack running on top of the
Linux kernel NFC subsystem.
The code generated using this recipe was tested on a ARM11 device, with
a kernel 3.6, using, for the NFC hardware, a USB dongle with the PN533
chipset (SCL3711)

This is a more generic way to set the init manager since we
plan to support other init managers as well.
I will use this variable as a switch to turn on/off any
init scheme that we might support in the future.
By default we use sysvinit.

The intent of the uImage code in this class includes the following
1) be able to specify custom load addresses without needing to patch the kernel
2) add better information to the uImage description field
The current state is a NOP anyway, the kernel will always build a uImage when you tell it to 'make uImage'.
weakly Set KEEPUIMAGE to 'yes' in default-distrovars.inc which preserve the
current OE-Core behavior. Machines which are being ported from oe.dev and need to
regenerate uImage can set this to be empty
