systemd by default tries to write the journal to /var/log/journal. But base-files has a symlink /var/log -> /var/volatile/log. And /var/volatile is a tmpfs mount in /etc/fstab. If the journal service started before /var/volatile was mounted (which was the typical scenario) then the journal would appear empty since the old location was mounted over. This change fixes the problem by ensuring that the journal doesn't start until after the mount happens. SUMMARY = "A System and service manager"
HOMEPAGE = "http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd"
DESCRIPTION = "systemd is a system and service manager for Linux, compatible with \
SysV and LSB init scripts. systemd provides aggressive parallelization \
capabilities, uses socket and D-Bus activation for starting services, \
offers on-demand starting of daemons, keeps track of processes using \
Linux cgroups, supports snapshotting and restoring of the system \
state, maintains mount and automount points and implements an \
elaborate transactional dependency-based service control logic. It can \
work as a drop-in replacement for sysvinit."
